touching down
Our LA realtor, Shannon, called us tonight to tell us that we just got ourselves a new house. The house is in the Glendale hills. We've got big plans for renovating our new mid-century home, budget allowing. :) The MLS link doesn't work anymore. I'll have to post pictures of the house after we move in.

celebrity sighting no.1
We finally rolled into LA last Thursday at 4:00 am. We thought we'd be down here by last Monday, but we still found ourselves madly sorting through and packing up all our crap thru Wednesday afternoon. Considering that our house in San Carlos was no longer our's as of Tuesday evening, I'd say we got out of the Bay Area barely in the nick of time. Moving sucks, especially when you realize too late that you've got more stuff than the time needed to pack it all. Thanks to the help of Jeff's sibs, we managed to survive the move.
Now we're down here in temporary housing for a month just outside the Universal lot in LA. As we were picking up some groceries our first night here, Jeff asked me if I had my celebrity radar on now that we're in LA. I kind of shrugged off the idea of bumping into anyone famous because I'm way more likely to push a shopping cart around the Vons in Burbank rather than sipping cocktails at some posh club in Hollywood. Well, I was doing something exactly so mundane today (eating fro yo with the kids) when this guy and his posse crossed my path...

Except, thankfully for the sake of the children, he looked more like this when I saw him...

Not that I'm a Twisted Sister fan. Not at all. In fact, it took me 20 minutes of googling after I got home to figure out who the guy was. I only recognized Dee Snyder as "somebody famous" because I remembered his face from vH1's show "I Love the 80's". So there you go. I don't know how many more celeb sightings I'll have during our adventure down here, but this counts as one I guess. His arm candy made a comment about how cute Ruby is. Lately she's been saying "hi" to anyone and everyone that walks by, including Dee Snyder.

more is better, apparently

Ruby's crazy. I try to leave only one "bink" out for her at a time because, well, this is what happens otherwise. Another thing she loves is her new pair of Crocs. I bought each of the kids a pair last week in preparation for the warmer weather in LA. Ruby, however, refuses to take her's off (even when she goes to bed at night). We're a shoe-less household, so this is a problem. For the first couple of days, I'd wipe off her crocs whenever we'd come back into the house. I quickly got tired of that and told Jeff I was going to get her another pair as inside shoes. He balked when he heard how much these obnoxious shoes cost. So, for now, Ruby's one pair of crocs are inside shoes since we spend more time indoors than out at this time of year. Maybe either set of grandparents will read this, take pity on the deprived child, and shell out another 25 shmacks for a second pair.
What did I tell ya? She *always* wants to wear her Crocs.
