heebee geebees

We live out in the sticks. At least that's what it feels like. We're in a remote residential neighborhood of Glendale, of which our house is situated at the very end of the road, beyond which is an unpaved fire trail that often attracts hikers and mountain bikers. The visitors to our house are more often the critters that live out in these parts with us as opposed to humans. So far we've had rattlesnakes hanging out in our front entry, sun spiders crawling around our floors at night, mice in the garage and water heater closet, bird nests here and there and everywhere, and now a scorpion in the kids' bathtub of all places. Doesn't that just top it all?? It makes me ill.

On a higher note (but not necessarily less scary), I got a promotion at work. I am now the pastry chef of Little Flower Candy Company. I've got a team of 3 bakers, and it's my job to ensure that we crank out some really tasty goodies with consistency. I've got to keep an eye on food cost, keep my bakers motivated and excited, manage inventory, and turn out some stuff that's so good that people will want to buy it again and again. Oh boy. I think I can. I think I can. Or I'll kill myself trying.

holy sh**!

reacting to scorpion, not the promotion.
